Big Bear, I just saw you were a linux guy.
I've been a Linux Sys Admin for 15+ years now, nice not to have to reboot every other day just to keep a server running. I think my longest uptime was just over 2 years, it was heavily firewalled off but I had to finally give in and do some security updates. Almost as sad as losing a hive.
I hear that. I got into building servers back about 97 and that's when shtuff got real for me in the uptime game.
When I got my degree in computer networking, I learned on Novell NetWare 5. There was no such thing as Windows server. The closest was the relatively new Windows 3.11
Coming from NetWare, Linux wasn't that big of a jump for me.
I still use Linux around my house and home office.
